Ben Pardue ...

Hi my name is Ben Pardue. Thanks to God’s will, and the efforts of The MED’s doctors an nurses I am alive to write this article. I was involved in a terrible automobile accident many years ago. While out driving, I was run off the road by some kids who had stolen a car. I had about 800 pounds of tires and tools in the back of my truck, which all came crushing down on top on me. Thankfully, I don’t remember too much after that. I had to be cut out from my vehicle and I was taken to The MED unconscious by ambulance. I suffered a concussion, a broken nose, discs in my neck and lower back were blown out, my chest was crushed, both lungs were punctured, I had a dislocated hip, a fractured left arm, and a lot of other injuries. I couldn’t tell you how, but the surgeons repaired me and saved my life. I was on life support and in a coma for four days.

When I came out of coma there was a beautiful blonde, blue eyed woman with an angelic face looking down at me, and I thought “this is it, I did go to heaven.” Then I thought “if I’m in heaven why do I hurt so bad and why do I have all these tubes in me?”

The care I received from the nurses and staff at the MED not only saved my life, but it also changed my life. I was treated and cared for as though I was the only patient in the entire hospital. God had plenty of opportunities to take me home, but he didn’t. I knew that I was supposed to be here and I cannot put into words how the compassion of the nurses and staff affected me. The compassion that was shown to me changed me as a person. I was saved for a reason and I was given the opportunity to serve God in a way that I had been trying to avoid for years. I was given the opportunity to show love and compassion for people who are injured and unable to get around and for the people who care for them and try to help them through.

It is one of my dreams to be able to give back to the MED. I want to bless the people who blessed me. The medical staff saved my life and made me feel very secure, and taken care of. I can’t possibly thank the MED enough for what was done to save my life. Thanks MED!
