Elvis License Plates are On the Way

Thanks to New Jersey Fan

Phyllis Petty usually listens to the George Klein Show on her Sirius Radio on Friday afternoons. She missed the show on Friday, the 13th so she listened to the repeat on Monday, the 16 th. “I heard George interviewing Michael Scruggs with The MED Foundation. They were talking about only needing 100 more people to sign up to order an Elvis Presley Tennessee license plate. One of them said, ‘wouldn’t it be nice if someone would just pay for the final 100 plates so we could get this thing rolling?’ and I thought I should be that person,” she said.

Once the plates do go into production, The Med Foundation will receive approximately $20 for each plate ordered and an additional $20 each year the plate is renewed.

Petty, 58, is an employee of the state of New Jersey and lives in the Trenton area. She picked up the phone and called The Foundation and asked how big the check needed to be. She recalled, “They told me the specialty plate fee is $35 so I would need to donate $3500 to help make the plate a reality. I knew that $2000 or so would eventually go to help The Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, so, I went on line and got the form and sent the money. It’s a way to give back a little – I felt I simply had to do it.“

The Foundation is thankful to Ms. Petty for her donation as the design of the plate was first introduced in November of 2005. Thanks to Ms. Petty’s generosity, The Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center License Plate will be a reality.
