Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center

Established in 1983, the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center received a level-one trauma center designation (the highest possible level) in 1985. Today it has a survival rating of 98 percent after the first 24 hours. It also is one of the nation’s three busiest trauma centers.

During the last two decades, the center’s 24-hour team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, nurses, respiratory therapists, orderlies, x-ray techs, lab techs and medical students has treated more than 80,000 trauma patients in a six-state area. The facility includes:

  • Four shock bays for initial assessment
  • A suite of 13 critical care assessment rooms
  • Four dedicated operating rooms
  • Two-bed recovery room
  • A 23-bed trauma intensive care unit
  • A seven-bed trauma step-down unit
  • A 26-bed post-trauma unit
